Welcome from the 2010 Program Chair
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the officers, the Board of Directors, the membership of the American College of Legal Medicine and our program chair, Dr.
Vicky Green, I take pride in welcoming you to our 50th Annual Conference: ACLM 50 Years Later: Advances in Medicine 2010 and, for
the second time in over a decade, the two-day Legal Aspects of Dentistry Symposium.
Once again, we have assembled an excellent faculty of twenty-fi ve dental educators to bring to you a comprehensive two-day program,
which will provide attendees with current information including, but not limited to, diverse topics about governmental interaction with
the profession, risk management considerations, ethical obligations, interplay with new technology, the dentist’s role in mass disaster
situations and other pertinent issues involving the practice of dentistry and the law. Those of you in a combination practice of dentistry and
law, or just practicing dentistry, will gain additional insight into the dental litigation arena.
In addition to the dental seminars, you are invited to attend the 2010 Sandy Sanbar Lecture: National Accreditation of the American
Board of Legal Medicine by the AAPS/ABPS. The lecture will be moderated by Sandy Sanbar, MD, PhD, JD, FCLM and will feature
presentations by Cyril H. Wecht, MD, JD, FCLM, an ACLM past president, and William J. Carbone, the Chief Executive Offi cer of the
American Association of Physician Specialists. Our annual Cyril H. Wecht Luncheon topic is ACLM − Then and Now! and will be given
by Cyril H. Wecht, MD, JD, FCLM himself.
Hopefully you will partake in other scheduled events included in your registration packet, such as the President’s Welcome Reception on
Friday evening and the Saturday evening banquet.
I would like to personally thank all who are moderating sessions or speaking at the conference this year. It is because of you that this
conference has been, and will continue to be, such a success. I would also like to thank all of those who attend this conference with the
intent of learning more about dentistry and law, one of the primary missions of ACLM.
Those of you who are not members of ACLM are invited to apply for membership by stopping at the registration desk or visiting our
website www.aclm.org.
Please enjoy this educational conference and the magic city of Orlando. We look forward to seeing you return to future meetings.
